Wondering what to expect? Here's an idea of how most custom design or illustration projects work.
Prep & Kick-off
After you reach out to me about your project, I’ll send you a questionnaire to understand your vision and how you intend to use the illustration, logo and/or design materials. It’ll ask questions about font and color preferences if you have them, examples of other designs you like (or don’t like!), and how you’ll be using your logo or design materials. If you're looking for an illustration, I'll ask for reference photos. I’m also available to schedule a short phone call or Skype.
Once I understand the scope of the project, I’ll be able to share timelines with any other projects in my queue, and will provide you with a quote.
Once we’ve agreed on a project and payment is received, I’ll get to work on the agreed number of drafts for your design project, sending you the drafts in a PDF, typically within 10 days. If it's a logo or design project, we can do things like combine elements from other designs that you liked, change the font, etc. For illustrations, we'll be working on tweaking different elements, most often color.
The bottom line: we’ll be working together to be sure the final product is exactly what you’re looking for.
Finalizing the project
I’ll work to incorporate all of your changes and send you the final product in PDF form within 5 days for your sign-off or one final round of changes. From there, I’ll work on completing any additional versions or collateral from the approved concept, and send those to you within an agreed upon time frame.
Once everything is done, I'll send you all of the files in one zipped file.
